Abortions Debate Pt 2: Are They Really Murder?

Murder (Noun) The unlawful killing of another human being by another

So firstly, is a fetus a human in the womb? Some might say that life starts at conception, but I disagree. I, personally, think that life starts only once the baby is born and has actually taken a breath. A fetus cannot survive outside of the womb up until a certain point. That point is 6 somewhere in between 6 - 7 months. At that point, an abortion could potentially be illegal. That’s just a way of appeasing the pro lifers, to try and please everyone.

When you think about it, at its core, a fetus/embryo (Or a zygote for biological terms at conception) is basically just a clump of cells undergoing a reaction and evolving. The cells start off as one which goes through mitosis to create two, and then that creates, four, and so on, until they differentiate. One could argue that all animals do that, but it doesn’t make sense. When a fetus does it, it is growing new parts. When we do it, we’re simply healing and generating new cells. There’s a difference. A fetus cannot feel pain, does not have an opinion, and does not have any thought processes.

When it’s conceived, and when it’s developing, a fetus could technically be considered a part of the mother. It’s using nutrients from her body, using her body as a host, and so on. Even after birth it still uses her body (Breastmilk).

Religion’s Role

Compare two countries that use religion a lot. Christianity (USA) and Islam (UAE). In Christianity, no matter the circumstance, be it a woman’s life is in danger, or the fetus will be born with fatal deformities, an abortion is murder. However in Islamic countries (UAE for example), an abortion is justified if the mother’s life is endangered by the pregnancy or if the fetus will be born with fatal deformities. When you look at the religious aspect of things, you can’t just look at one. You have to look at multiple. 

How Can A Fetus Possibly Consent?

A fetus can’t. A fetus can’t consent, but you’ve also got to consider that at the same time, it can’t ask for anything. If we’re bringing consent into this, then wouldn’t a fetus need to consent to the mother taking vitamin supplements? Vitamin supplements can affect the fetus’s development. So can alcohol and smoking. Doesn’t the fetus need to consent to the mother drinking and smoking too? How does it possibly make sense?

What About Adoption?

Adoption is not a solution. There are thousands of children in foster care, and 25% - 40% of them are abused. If a woman got an abortion instead of condemning a child to a life of foster care where they’re more likely to be abused than adopted, which one is more morally correct? In 2019, only 26% of children in foster care were adopted, and that number has been steadily decreasing, with the abuse rates increasing. Not to mention, studies show that youth in foster care are two and a half times more likely to contemplate suicide than youth not in foster care. If abortion is murder, if it does take a life, all it does is speed up the process. If a woman gives birth to a child and puts them up for foster care, only for them to kill themselves 10 -15 years later, thinking that they’re unloved, what’s the difference? You’re still condemning them to death. So pro lifers need to ask, which is better? Foster care or abortion? 

Whose Choice Is It Really? The Fetus’s Or The Mother?

We need to ask, why is it that an unborn human being has more rights than a human being with family, friends, a job, people they love, etc.? Why does bodily autonomy apply for one person instead of both? In the end, who is more affected? If the fetus is aborted, what does it lose? Emotionally? The fetus has no friends, no emotional connections, etc. The mother on the other hand has everything to lose. If she can’t financially support a child, what happens? She could end up on the streets. What about emotional support? The child will end up with a distant parent. In the end, the topic of abortions affects the women more than the fetus. 

I love it when I go to someone’s post and the dash changes colors to match the person’s account theme. It feels like I’m visiting someone’s house and this is the welcome in before I check their profile to take my shoes off and come inside.

cierra un instante los ojos en puro arrepentimiento. por no conocer a su madre claro que pensaría de tal forma. ‘ no, es que... tiene su modo... y tiempo ’ repara al otorgar gran suspiro. había que acostumbrarle a freyja pero con la insistencia que tenía de casarlo con quien aún no se daba el tiempo ( ni daría ) de conocer; estaría difícil. alza las cejas en sorpresa, pues el joven nunca comentó conocerle ni mucho menos las visitas. ‘ supuse que estados unidos tiene mejores sitios, o no sé ’ la salida de varios justo cuando los padres llegaron daba conclusiones obvias a terceros. el internado no había manejado bien las cosas últimamente, motivos que igual orillaban a su propia madre a quererlo sacar. elevó la vista conforme risas eran contagiadas al acercarse. ‘ espero lo mismo, ’ encoge hombros a sabiendas de respuesta, y bebió más. ‘ aunque te diré que para ser mi compañero de cuarto hay ciertas reglas y creo la primera sería no criticarme la ropa que me llega ’ abre nuevo tema pensando qué pasará en el futuro pese a que con quien abandonó tenía gustos similares de vestir, y era agradable.

I wanna see somebody take the Time Stone and be plagued with nightmares of atrocities throughout history. Past, present, future, shit that almost happened and the infinite possibilities that have yet to come to pass! The days, ways and exact moments down to the very second you or your loved ones are going to die and not being able to do anything about it! Just like the Ancient One in Doctor Strange! Be burderned with knowledge of time!

I wanna see someone snatch the Space Stone and accidentally make a black hole every time they get depressed or shift gravity around based on their mood- like floating off the ground every time they have a panic attack or being physically dragged down to the floor in a depressive episode. I want them to have dreams of neutron stars exploding or solar systems being born at the core of the Milky Way or any other galaxy.

With the Mind Stone, I want ya boy/girl to be cursed with the knowledge of other people’s thoughts. Good, bad, ugly and down right disgusting. You have somebody stalking you? You now have to hear everything they’re thinking about doing to you, but do you know where they are? Probably not. And if you think that’s bad, imagine never being allowed to forget a single detail of your entire life or the details within the memories of others. For example, your mother’s possible turmoil in debating whether or not she was going to keep you. Or your Dad contemplating whether or not he wanted to be a father or take his chances on the run. Or perhaps even a former babysitter who thought about killing you when you were little.

You wanna take a moment to get weird and think about the ramifications of the god damn Soul Stone...? Because I wish I hadn’t. Can you imagine being the only human in the world who could genuinely see ghosts? Who could likely control the Ghost Rider and maybe even cure his madness...? Being the only person in the history of the world to hold the power of life and death in your grasp? Having to see ghosts trailing behind their loved ones, trapped on the mortal plain with unfinished business and you can’t acknowledge them or you risk being haunted by a spirit begging you day and night to bring them back...? Or to take revenge on their behalf...? You would essentially be taking on the jobs of Charon, Hades, Thanatos and Cerberus all at the same time and that sounds like a particularly shit occupation, because let’s not forget about the Ghost Rider’s boss. The literal Devil himself who would more than likely try to murder you for the Soul Stone to get his revenge on the One Above All (who is God in the Marvel Universe) which would likely then bring on the apocalypse! The Biblical End of Days, because you gave Red Skull the finger and killed a loved one!

I really, really wish I hadn’t just spent the last four hours thinking about this, but I had to share or I was gonna scream...I’m not sorry...
