help i’m inching closer and closer towards cementing a plot point that’s been planned for sometime now and i’m *dreading* officially writing it so badly omg😭

but as it is written… it shall be done😪 (i’m already sobbing profusely)

just tried to outline future chapters and my brain nearly short circuited. my creative mind is not meant to be confined to the chains of bullet points and organization she simply isn’t

i love when i write out a scene idea (with plans to incorporate it into the storyline) and then i sit at my computer desk to do just that and my characters are just like:

“nah, we’ll take it from here tyvm.”

and i’m just like: oh ok! yes chef🫡

i can’t tell you how many “deleted scenes” i have in my notes app because my characters love to take the wheel from me🙄

just had a #writerscare thinking i astronomically fucked up a crucial part of a storyline in my book series…😁

one of the hardest parts of writing interconnected stories tbh lol the stress of everything having to perfectly align as to avoid even the tiniest plot hole is a lot

thankfully, i figured it out and saved myself from the impending meltdown!

trying to keep up with writing while trying to keep up with promoting my writing while trying to keep up with work while trying to keep up with taking care of my mental health aka the reason why all these things are so hard in the first place is so hard!!!!!!

taking breaks isn’t an option for me unfortunately. my mentally ill brain needs a routine to keep the wheels turning. it sounds like self torture but trust i’ve been through worse, this is light work for me!!!!!!

The most typical of the typical days in a writer’s (my) life

PSA: Writing a book can take a looooong time. If you've been working on your project for a year, two years, five years... you're not doing anything wrong. If you've written three drafts and thrown them all away, if you can only write a hundred words a day, if you put your book down for six months and pick it up again only to be baffled by what you've written... Congratulations. You're not inefficient or slow. You're just a writer. Welcome to the writing life.

Just stole a last name for a character in desperate need of one from a famous actor. It’s not like he was using it, anyway.

Sometimes my brain’s like “hey, here, out of nowhere, a name that’s absolutely perfect for your character!" But most times it’s like "no. nope. this one sounds ugly. this one doesn’t feel like her. this one spells ugly. this one’s nice but transliterates awfully. she doesn’t look like this one. I hate this one for no reason. This one’s good but I already have a character named like this in the same work"

Also for me it’s certainly not the single most stressful part, but it is a special kind of stress to have someone on your character list who is just a description without a name. I’m not even talking about actually writing someone yet unnamed.

why is it that naming characters is the single most stressful part of writing? i’ll spend weeks drafting intricate plots and creating entire fake histories for countries, but the moment i have to name someone, my brain is like, 'uhhhh… kevin?' i can’t have my epic fantasy hero named kevin! but then i overthink it and end up with something like arithalas drakemourn, which sounds like a bad d&d oc. there is no winning.

if you hate your draft, just pretend it’s a collaboration with past you.

Not me not having the energy to write all day and only getting ideas and motivations now: as I'm preparing to go to my aromatherapy lesson. FFS-

It's not even as if I couldn't write during, i could, but I don't want to, i actually find it interesting!! (Unlike last time I had classes three years ago- I spent my entire school life writing during lessons-)

Might squeeze in some light writing in the break if I can, otherwise let's just pray that I'm not exhausted when i come home 💀🙏
