““And, whoa!“ He turned to Mr. D. "Your the wine dude? No way!” Mr. D turned his eyes away from me and gave Nico a look of loathing. “The wine dude?” “Dionysus, right? Oh, wow! I’ve got your figurine!” “My figurine.” “In my game, Mythomagic. And holofoil card, too! And even though you’ve only got like five hundred attack points and everybody thinks your the lamest god card, I totally think your powers are sweet!” “Ah.” Mr. D seemed truly perplexed, which probably saved my life. “Well, that’s…gratifying.””
— Rick Riordan, The Titan’s Curse
Throughout Greek mythology it's believed the youngest takes the throne of God king. Like Zeus did from Kronos, guess who Zeus's youngest son is? What if Zeus had an alternative reason for being so harsh to Dionysus? What if he's TRYING to keep him away because he knows. He knows eventually he'll threaten his power. He knows eventually he'll threaten his throne.
Alternative au where Luke realizes this and instead of going to Kronos rebukes Hermes and makes Dionysus adopt him and they work together to start making life better for half bloods and eventually overthrowing Zeus. Chiron and Hephaestus secretly join in cause they're all for the screw Zeus club.
Bonus fluff Chiron actually has no problem secretly helping and supporting Dionysus because A he's basically raised his nephew and you can't tell me they don't have a family dynamic and B he knows he'll be much better than Zeus cause at least he won't bang anything with legs
