maybe a bit controversial, probably not but lace code is alive and well and i find it weird that some people throw a fit over that.
(please keep in mind this blog is written by a German from a German perspective and with German lace code in mind, red =/= Nazi here)
the only people I've ever really seen throwing a fit over lace code still being taken seriously is Nazis trying to signal their allegiances without having to live in fear which is absolutely fucking stupid because Nazis aren't safe and shouldn't feel safe. especially not in a community that is literally built on leftist politics. and the other people is people who for some reason feel like they cant just wear for example red laces without being a communist or anarchist, like that's fine. antifascists wear them too!!
lace code is alive and well and is getting used daily by many people, whenever I've asked people if their shoelaces have meanings if they have different coloured laces in their boots it was rather "yeah its my favorite colour" or "yeah its lace code" and both is totally valid especially since in Germany or at least were i am the only suspicious colour is white, or white paired with literally anything else.
i personally wear a pink and a red pair of shoelaces and i used to wear red and blue or pink and blue, I'm currently looking to extend my shoe lace collection but its extremely difficult to find coloured shoelaces IRL so i might just dye a few at this point
oh yeah and here's a little cutout from my reworked lace code blog from my banned spacehey acc (rip) I'm probably gonna republish this and then also throw it onto here it has a bit of history and stuff
First post ey!
So it has been running around in my head for a while...
I just realized we never ever learned why Hobie cared about the Miles that much. You know, blocking his way on the way of meeting with Miguel, giving him little tips, constantly trying to keep him away from that talk about how Miles' father suppose to die for the canon timeline. I mean, it kinda happens to all of the Spiders right? Why specifically care about Miles' dad. Plus he is a cop and I can see Hobie fidgeting with his ACAB pin at the corner while the talk happens.
And when I look at his blue shoe laces, (which they represent the owner of the laces had killed a cop. for more information I highly recommend searching Doc Martens lace code. Yes guys, it's still a thing among the punks. Not as serious as before but still a thing) I kinda only can imagine Hobart Brown killed Jefferson Davis in his own universe.
So it may be as some kind of accident, or it may be just classic 'good guy get killed in the arms of the spider' scene. But you know, Spider-punk is not our ordinary the Friendly Neighbourhood Spiderâ„¢. His life style is different, fight style is different, and since the majority of spider's timeline starts with bad choices (like hurting the innocent in the name of revenge of Uncle Ben etc.) maybe Hobie's bad choice was slightly different. Maybe his bad choice was killing the cop.
And I can only imagine the young, angry Spider-punk who thinks cops are only on his way and only way to get rid of them is treating them like villains. And who can blame him, really
I've heard this too many times, with some different variations here and there too like " If your punk you have to have doc Martens," "doc Martens are the only punk combat boots" blah blah blah
like they aren't so expensive!! T-T. Good for you guys if you can afford it but Im a little confused why a movement for the poor working class is prioritizing buying expensive shoes to be part of the community. Thoughts?
