Feral Griffins

A Griffin is a mythical monster that is a mix of Feline and Avian form. There are two sub-groups, feral and domestic. The feral sub-group has two tiers, Winged and Wingless. They are Quadrupeds, often with their front legs being avian, and their rear legs Feline, as well as a feather tipped feline tail. They have beaks and their respective feline eyes. Domestic Griffins are more commonly known as Griffs. In terms of all around power, they are stronger than Hellhounds, but weaker than Dragons.

Feral

They are proud, solitary hunters, but very protective of their territory and Kits.

Winged

Winged Griffins are stronger than their wingless relatives. They are more commonly male than female, about 3 out of 5 being male.

Lion-Eagle

The Lion-Eagle Griffin is the most well recognized type of griffin, characterized by golden fur and feathers, except on the head, where the feathers are white, like a Bald Eagle. It's talons are very strong, and It can carry up to half a ton. They live on cliffs, such as the grand canyon, and other such places. They swoop down and pull their prey in the air, before dropping them over flat rocks.

Tiger-osprey

The Tiger-Osprey Griffin is an uncommon type of griffin, characterized by red-orange or white, black striped fur, and silver-grey feathers. It's talons and claws are very sharp, and it is an adept swimmer. They live in jungles, and quite often use waterfalls to fly, with the canopy covering about all other sky. They tend to attack from the riverfront.

Snow Leopard-Gyrfalcon

A Snow Leopard-Gyrfalcon Griffin is a rare type of griffin, characterized by white, dark rosette covered fur, and dappled white and grey feathers. They are masters of stealth, and can come within ten feet of their prey before being noticed. They live in snowy mountains, and their coat helps them blend in to their patchy surroundings.

Wingless

Wingless Griffins are faster and are better climbers than their winged relatives. They are more often female than male, 2 out of 3 being female.

Peregrine-Cheetah

A Peregrine-Cheetah griffin is an uncommon type of griffin, characterized by Silver and Pale Gold fur and feathers, and dark spots covering their back and tail, turning to rings on the tip. They are the fastest type of griffin. They are incredible runners, and can top 100 mph in short bursts. They live in Savannahs, where they can run without restriction.

Serval-Kite

A Serval-Kite griffin is an uncommon type of griffin, characterized by a Beige or Golden Brown fur coat with Darker Brown spots, and Brown and Black striped feathers. They are very agile, capable of catching fast prey, and are great at escaping traps and bigger predators. They live in Meadows, Forests, and Grasslands, where their agility is quite helpful.

Ocelot-Owl

The Ocelot-Owl is a rare type of griffin, characterized by a dark brown fur on their back with a light beige stomach, and an irregular stripe and spot pattern, with mottled brown feathers. They are Nocturnal, and very stealthy hunters. They live mostly in forests, where they can silently swoop down on their prey from the trees.

Mythics

Hello, Jaybird Here. I am putting this here. I made several types of Mythical beasts, Though a some are generic, I try to add my own personal Headcanons to a lot of them. Especially the hellhounds and Griffins, I specifically designed several of each. I just wanted to warn anyone looking at my small and crappy blog in advance.

This actually ties to a personal headcanon of mine, that mythical monsters are still on the surface, only in hiding. It would explain why that kind of monster isn’t seen underground, and why their mythology is still around, unlike the rest of the monsters, not even known at all, really.

Forest Kingfisher / Fishing Cat: Quelas. Just a normal fisher-folk.

Shrike / Blackfooted Cat: Thistle! Animal researcher and practicing taxidermist.

Skua / Pallas Cat: His name is Heske. Doesn’t have a set job, but he’s a good hunter and likes travelling Fey’s.

If Griffeux need a dinner. . .

This is more “if Griffeuxes had a meal together,” then “this is how they eat everyday.”

Daily life, since Griffeuxes travel every night, Griffeuxes tend to collect a lot of odd things to chew on if they can’t hunt down a meal. Jerkied meats, dried fruits, nuts- anything that’d fit in a small bag and wouldn’t get in the way. A trail mix!

Or they eat everything as they catch it. It’s either way for them. They absolutely prefer their meats/fish raw compared to their vegetables though.

I *wish* I could show off rears to show off particular patterning or oddness for these Griffeuxes,, but anyways

Pearls! A sugary sweet, bubbly lass who is working to become the main leader of Ygeis, the healthcare governmental position at the behest of the other leaders due to her experience and the fact Selui has gone missing.

Selui Tuft! A shoebill/‘monkey’ Griffeux who’s gone missing! They haven’t gone missing they simply refuse to leave their home. They’re extremely experienced in curing many an Affliction and is happy to teach Pearls everything they know so they may quarantine in peace. Just stay, ten feet back. . .

Valor Olinn! There’s some speculation on what he is, but in short- He’s a big dumbass. He was elected into leadership by the people of ‘The Holy Peaks Washed in Lumidyn’s Light’ (THPWILL, I’ll never type that again)

Goldleaf Mirn! A Xanthochromatic Falcon/Cougar Griffeux. He runs the treasury and criminology section of THPWILL and is scrambling to teach Valor important, interspecies manners. One could also say he’s the Religious head of their city as well.
