Bakugou is not inherently an abusive character, but what Izuku went through leading up to episode one at the hands of Bakugou and the other bullies was abuse.

Izuku was mentally, emotionally, and physically abused. Saying it was “just bullying” takes away the severity of what it was.

It even goes back to when they were very young. The first flash back where it’s a baby Izuku defending another kid from Bakugou and other bullies, in that encounter Izuku was left beaten up and bruised. I severely doubt that it stopped there.

In the first episode, Bakugou constantly threatens Izuku with physical violence, and Izuku responds by flinching and wincing. Izuku still flinches away from Bakugou in the current canon. Dont tell me that Bakugou’s bullying of him wasnt physical, because it’s clear that it was.

And then theres the mental and emotional abuse. From day one, Izuku was constantly ridiculed for just existing as a quirkless kid. He was constantly reminded, every day, that he was useless that he was nobody, that he could never be a hero.

To this day, Izuku still is effected by that, whether its obvious or not. Izuku was constantly told that he was worthless, and so he sees himself as worthless; that’s why he’s so willing to risk himself for everyone else. He firmly believes that the lives of everyone else are worth far more than he could ever be, so he doesnt care what happens to him as long as he saves them.

So yeah. Bakugou isnt an abuser, but what Izuku went through was abuse
