in my mind gillion is very much the kid that was raised by his grandparents. like idk how else to explain it but from what little we've seen of edyn and caspian, shit like fighting to the death over being "dishonored" doesn't seem like A Thing for younger undersea folk. but it is something finn was accustomed to, according to drey. and, of course, gillion wasn't actually raised by his grandparents (even if finn had more influence on him than his parents ever did), but the elders seem like the kind of people to be stuck in outdated traditions, don't they?
