which is to say, this was part of an initiative in the early 1970s that not only featured marginalized groups on BBC programming, but made moves towards handing them editorial control – the BBC had to approve proposals, but after that, the station’s role was primarily to provide technical resources, facilities, and copyright handling. (another notable program under this initiative featured Black teachers discussing racism in the school system, and a link to that – plus discussion of the hurdles it faced – can be found here).

the program on trans experience was aired in 1973.

The programme, featuring trans women, began: “Jokes about ‘the operation’ are all that most people know about transexualism [sic]. Tonight’s group discuss their situation in a more serious and comprehensive way, and draw attention to the many difficulties they endure”.

Altres Farwit was born to Mazroichtva and Duveliel Gubrista. Mazroichtva was a high ranking member of the red mantis group while Duveliel was a noble of wealth. Not long after Altres's birth Duveliel disappeared leaving Mazroichtva with his wealth. Mazroichtva went back to using her maiden name after this. Mazroichtva began teaching Altres to be her successor in the red mantis as soon as Altres was able to walk. They took their first life at the age of 6. But unlike their mother Altres had no taste for the business of assatoin. Intsed they long to be a baker. Often they sneak to the mansion's kitchen where the old cook secretly teaches them baking. Once Altres asked there mother if they could leave the business to become a baker. It did not end well after a week they were let out of the basement. Now they take mission after mission hoping that by completing enough their mother will let them leave. But their perfect success is having the opposite effect.
