While surveying the Gumdrop Seamount off the central California coast in 1998, MBARI staff spotted an unusual—and exceptionally large—jelly. This crimson creature was a full meter across. Unlike jellies that dwell near the ocean’s surface, this one didn’t have tentacles. Instead, a cluster of finger-like oral arms dangled beneath its bulky bell.

A closer look confirmed this was a new species—and one that had actually eluded our scientists five years earlier. Detailed video observations captured by our robotic submersibles helped MBARI researcher George Matsumoto and his colleagues in California and Japan formally describe this unusual jelly. They named it Tiburonia granrojo in honor of MBARI’s now-retired remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Tiburon, which was instrumental in documenting this delicate drifter in its natural environment.

Scientists have since spotted this jelly across the Pacific Ocean, from Baja California to Hawaii to Japan. That something so big remained undiscovered for so long shows how little we’ve explored the deep sea—and what more must be out there waiting to be found.

shut UP just noticed this on a rewatch of the scene in any sport in a storm

so right before willow gets knocked off her broom, hunter grabs a flag in his left hand

and willow has snagged two flags, one in each hand as she falls

hunter sees her falling, and in this shot has switched the hand he’s holding the flag in

and willow now has 2 flags in her right hand instead of one in each hand in this shot

she seems like her plan the whole time is to pass off the flags and break then her fall - she doesn’t seem to try and fail to have hunter catch her / keep her in the game, so she passes off the 2 in her right hand to hunter..

so why did they reach out with both hands and then hold hands like this and interlock their fingers like jeeeeeeeesus instant crush

and then she lets go of his hand and he has the 2 flags from her in the left hand and 1 he originally had on the right

I drew this about a year ago, but just now got around to posting. The first, I wanted to try the epilogue designs, but Willow needed a casual outfit rather than her flyer derby one. The second, I was playing with alternate hairstyles.

To be perfectly honest, I don't actually like many of the timeskip designs.

So imma headcanon that Hunter prefers shorter hair(longer reminds him too much of Belos), but forgets to cut it until either Willow or Darius have had enough of his mullet. Then Willow cuts her hair short at the beginning of flyer derby season to keep it out of the way, then grows it out the rest of the year. I prefer her with long hair, honestly.

Oh, and I love the idea of Willow getting an earring in her left ear to match the notch in Hunter's.
