hi! here’s some things about me <3
• I’ve been a fan of sunny since june 2023, frank vs russia was my first live episode fully caught up!
• I’m mainly active on sunnytwt (same user) but I want to be more active here too
• favorite sunny season is 12, favorite episode is mac finds his pride
• I’m from nyc (but I didn’t go to the live podcast show in october 2023 at radio city cause no one wanted to go with me and I didn’t want to go alone. I truly asked my best friend probably 100 times. but don’t worry they’ll come back! right guys!)
• very very excited for s17/the future of the show in general! can’t wait to see what they have in store. and to see mac and dennis sloppy make out in an ambulance
late night and extremely random thought but I feel like season 17 is gonna feel very similar to season 11, or it’s recapturing it in some way
-first mac and dennis episode since mac and dennis movie to the suburbs
-first lawyer appearance since trial of the century
-sequel episode (overage drinking/chardee macdennis 2 and frank falls out a window)
-an episode shot differently (the gang fucks up abbott/being frank)
I’m not saying they’re making s11 part 2 or this is intentional I just find it interesting <3
After running my Canon Macdennis Survey, it became very clear that the reason the fandom is so divided on the idea as to whether or not Macdennis is already canon is because people have pretty wildly different understandings of what canon means for a ship (and are even more-so when it comes to an enigma like Macdennis).
What seemed to be highly consistent with people who do believe Macdennis is already canon, however, is the idea that Macdennis, as a non-platonic relationship, is something that is intended by the show. That is to say, their relationship is written and acted in such a way that the audience is meant to interpret it as romantic and/or sexual in nature, beyond the surface level of pairing the two together for "the joke"
Since half the fandom doesn't view Macdennis as canon, and therefore their thoughts on this concept were somewhat limited in the responses I received, I'm curious to know from anyone and everyone in the fandom...
*Intentional does not mean that you think they will eventually "end up together", but that you believe the current, continuing writing for Mac and Dennis is intended by RCG to be viewed as something more than platonic and not just for one-off bits
(If you have nuance it can belong to one of these options with an explanation in the tags :D)
first s17 prophecy basically abbott crossover gets like 2 million live viewers who enjoy the incredible ep and so then all stay to watch the second of the double episode premiere the gang goes to a dog park they get traumatised watching dennis wank off a dog then spend the next week launching the most severe cancellation campaign on twitter meanwhile we’re celebrating that dennis’ dog wanking practically canonised his bisexuality (frank said “i’m not doing it it’s a dude!” dennis goes “…i’ll do it then” with a bi twinkle in his eye) our focus on the yaoi only turns the cancellers more against us they insist we’re perverts who would throw away any morals for shitty gay representation we insist we’re not we spend the week arguing our corner until the next wednesday ep3 mac and dennis become emts airs in which mac and dennis practice mouth to mouth on each other and it turns to full passionate making out for like 10 seconds they break away and the episode never mentions it again we then start celebrating and everyone on twitter has just had their convictions confirmed they intensify their hate campaign we’re battling them whilst having the best day of our lives they insist we’re getting heavily queerbaited almost brainwashed by in their eyes fake yaoi just so that we’ll adopt the abhorrent politics of the worst show on television our case is not helped by the rest of the season actively avoiding mentioning the macdennis kiss at all but we know it’s real we get macdennis summer and the sunny fandom gets permanently blacklisted in the minds of the woke left forever
